How we measure

  • Real devices, real networks

A sample of visits times what people actually wait for, on their own laptops and phones, wherever they are. Nothing is measured from inside our data center.

  • Nothing about anyone

Each timing is one number and the kind of device. No name, no workspace, no message, no page address. We keep only counts, so no single visit can be found again.

  • p95, not the average

p95 means 95 out of 100 times were this fast or faster. It shows the slow moments an average hides. p50 is the typical time.

  • Shown only with enough data

A month needs at least 100 timings of a kind before we publish its numbers. Months are calendar months in UTC; the current month is to date.
