The Discord alternative built for work.

Discord is great for communities. For a company, SphereOne gives you work accounts the business controls, single sign-on, client rooms, scheduled meetings and files, with SphereOne Assist in every conversation, and imports your server’s history.

The short answer

SphereOne is a Discord alternative for companies that started on a Discord server and now need work accounts, admin control and rooms fit for clients. People join with company accounts, with single sign-on on Business and up, meetings are scheduled on a shared calendar, and files keep their versions. An admin can import a server’s text channels and threads using a Discord bot token.

Why teams switch from Discord

What changes when chat, meetings, files and clients share one workspace.

Work accounts

People join with company emails, and on Business and up they sign in through your identity provider. When someone leaves, their access ends and the history stays.

Admin control

Roles, two-step sign-in, sign-in rules by network or location, and an audit log of changes to people and settings.

Meetings on a calendar

Schedule meetings with conflict checks and RSVPs, record them, and let guests join from a link.

Rooms fit for clients

Each client gets a private room with your team and never sees the rest of the workspace.

It’s time to switch if

  • Your team runs on a Discord server, but everyone uses a personal account and handle.
  • You need to bring clients or candidates into conversations and want it to look professional.
  • You need single sign-on, company roles and a record of who changed what.

Discord may still fit better if

  • You are building a public community of customers, players or developers, and they are already on Discord.
  • Your team lives in always-on voice channels that people drop in and out of all day.

Switch with your Discord history

Nothing is written until an admin confirms the preview, and any import can be undone.

The full Discord import guide
  1. Add the import bot to your server. Discord has no export file for servers, so SphereOne reads through a bot you create and add yourself.
  2. Check the preview. SphereOne shows the rooms, people and message counts it found. Nothing is written yet.
  3. Decide people and rooms. Link each person to a member, invite them or keep their name only. Create each room fresh, merge it into one you have, or skip it.
  4. Import, and undo if you need to. Set a cut-off date for the day you switch. Undo removes only what the import created.

Questions about moving from Discord

Can you use Discord for business?

Many small teams do, and it works for chat and voice. The gaps show as a company grows: accounts are personal, there is no single sign-on, the company doesn’t own the accounts or the history, and it isn’t built for client work. A work-first tool closes those gaps.

Can I import a Discord server into SphereOne?

Yes. Create a bot in the Discord Developer Portal with the Server Members and Message Content intents, give it View Channels and Read Message History, add it to your server and paste its token in SphereOne. Text channels, threads, replies, reactions, pins and attachments come over. Imports run for workspace admins on Starter and up; on a free trial you can upload an export and see the full preview first.

Can we keep our Discord community?

Yes. Many companies keep a public Discord for their community and move internal work and client conversations into SphereOne.
