The Telegram alternative for teams at work.

Telegram is fast and handles huge groups, but its accounts are personal phone numbers. SphereOne keeps the speed in a workspace your business owns, with client rooms, meetings, files and SphereOne Assist, and imports your Telegram Desktop exports.

The short answer

SphereOne is a Telegram alternative for businesses that coordinate staff or clients in Telegram groups. Accounts are work accounts the company controls rather than personal phone numbers, client rooms keep outsiders limited to what you add them to, and group history imports from Telegram Desktop’s JSON export, with channel posts arriving as messages.

Why teams switch from Telegram

What changes when chat, meetings, files and clients share one workspace.

Owned by the company

Rooms, files and history belong to the workspace, so nothing leaves with a phone when someone moves on.

Admin control

Invite people with work emails, set roles, require two-step sign-in and limit where people sign in from.

Meetings and a calendar

Schedule meetings with conflict checks and RSVPs, share your screen and record calls.

Assist catches you up

Summaries of busy rooms with decisions and action items, and a morning brief of what happened overnight.

It’s time to switch if

  • Staff coordinate in Telegram groups on personal numbers, and you can’t see or control who is in them.
  • Clients and contractors sit in the same groups as your team.
  • You need meetings, files and a calendar next to the chat.

Telegram may still fit better if

  • You broadcast to a large public audience: Telegram channels are built for that.
  • Your community, rather than your team, is what lives on Telegram.

Switch with your Telegram history

Nothing is written until an admin confirms the preview, and any import can be undone.

The full Telegram import guide
  1. Export from Telegram Desktop. Telegram exports one chat at a time, and only from its desktop app. Export each group you want, then add them all to one import.
  2. Check the preview. SphereOne shows the rooms, people and message counts it found. Nothing is written yet.
  3. Decide people and rooms. Link each person to a member, invite them or keep their name only. Create each room fresh, merge it into one you have, or skip it.
  4. Import, and undo if you need to. Set a cut-off date for the day you switch. Undo removes only what the import created.

Questions about moving from Telegram

Is Telegram good for business communication?

It is fast and scales to very large groups, which suits communities and broadcasts. For a company, accounts are personal phone numbers, admins only control one group at a time, and the business doesn’t own the history. A company-owned workspace keeps work and client conversations under the company’s control.

Can I import Telegram chats into SphereOne?

Yes. In Telegram Desktop, open the group, choose Export chat history, pick the media to include and set the format to Machine-readable JSON, then upload the export. Replies, reactions, files and voice messages come over, and channel posts arrive as messages from the channel. Imports run for workspace admins on Starter and up; on a free trial you can upload an export and see the full preview first.

Does SphereOne have broadcast channels like Telegram?

SphereOne has announcement channels on Starter and up, where admins post and everyone reads. They are for your workspace, not for a public audience.
